Widely acclaimed for the creative inspiration and craftsmanship of the GRG used for the interior styling, the Aviator Hotel in Farnborough was selected to represent the UK at the 7th International Saint-Gobain Gyproc Trophy (SGGT) competition held in Amsterdam in June 2010. The bi-annual competition is a worldwide initiative designed to recognize excellence in dry-walling and plastering.
Twenty six countries were represented in the awards. Following an intense judging process to assess quality, skill and innovation, the Aviator Hotel emerged the clear winner. Gillespie UK manufactured and installed the GRG mouldings that were used to create the sinuous forms around the dramatic spiral staircase, including the circular balconies, a full entrance staircase with GRG walls, recessed lighting troughs and handrails with integral lighting.
The International Saint-Gobain Gyproc Award for Innovation is a coveted endorsement of the quality and craftsmanship of the GRG installation.
