This £1.6bn retail and leisure development in White City is a partnership between London Underground and the developer Westfield. Known as Westfield London, this c1.5m square feet project will bring regeneration, jobs and a 21st century transport system to a previously disadvantaged area of the city.
Gillespie (UK) Limited of the Tvedt group of companies have completed two interiors fit-out packages in the White City development. The first package relates to the West Village, where Gillespie manufactured and installed GRG ceiling features, bulkheads, columns casings, lighting troughs, large elliptical domes and continuous areas of curved ceilings. This package of work constituted a major portion of the interiors in the Westfield retail development. Gillespie worked closely with the architects BGI and the interiors contractor, Ibex Interiors.
The Gillespie in-house design team additionally worked in close collaboration with the architects in working up the detailed design drawings for the stunning Zerodec GRG features in the public mall areas. In a second package for the Winter Gardens, Gillespie supplied and installed large quantities of curved void-edge GRG panels that form the centrepiece circulation area. Gillespie’s manufacturing and on-site installation skills were able to achieve the accuracy of line and precision finishing essential to the visual success of the designs.
